Building Your Training Week
A sustainable week beats a heroic one. Most adults do best with two or three classes spaced across the week — for example, kickboxing Monday, BJJ Fundamentals Wednesday, and a second striking or cardio class Friday — leaving at least one full rest day between hard sessions. Mixing a striking class with a grappling class also builds a more complete skill set than doubling up on one.
If you want a number to aim at, the CDC's activity guidelines for adults put it at 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity a week plus two strengthening sessions. Three classes here clears both comfortably. Shift workers and parents should look hard at the morning kickboxing block: a 9:00 am class is done before the day starts making decisions on your behalf, and it is far easier to protect than an evening slot.
